The Partition of Ukraine as proposed by Russian “experts” in 2018

On September 21, 2018, in the program ‟60 minutes” aired on Rossiya-1, a prominent Russian state TV channel, a panel of experts invited by Olga Skabeyeva and Evgeny Popov, known now for their vitriolic backing of the war in Ukraine, has proposed the partition of Ukraine between Poland and the Russian Federation.

According to the Russian ‟experts”, the Russian Federation had to annex the Southern Ukraine, with Odessa, Kherson, Donetsk and Kharkov, while Poland had to get Western Ukraine, with Lvov, Lutsk and Ternopol. Between the annexed territories, a smaller neutralized state - Ukraine. As regards the Transcarpathian Oblast (ex-Czechoslovak Subcarpathian Ruthenian Land) and the Czernowitz Oblast (the ex-Romanian Northern Bukovina and Northern Bessarabia regions), their status was undetermined.
